Eyjafjallajökull Volcano Tour

This trip will take you to the closest allowable location to achieve stunning photographs of this mighty volcano. This will be a chance to see a landscape changing before you eyes. Safety always comes first, but everything will be done to get you close enough for some good photographs. The main attraction is the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.

Includes transport and photography guidance. Some wet weather and/or protective clothing and various photography equipment can be provided on request.
Bring your own camera and photography equipment. Appropriate clothing is advised - be prepared with a waterproof jacket and some good walking boots.
Comfortable Jeep travel. They may be some 4X4 off road travel. There will be opportunities to hike a little, but this is not a necessary part of the tour. Some moderate walking may be required.

We head straight out of Reykjavik and follow the national highway to to site of the recent volcanic eruptions with a good view of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano for most of the trip. From nearby villages we will access some good vantage points to get some interesting pictures of the volcano. Then we drive off road to get to the closest allowable point. Hear the thunder!

Volcano Sites

Of course, volcanoes are not constantly erupting in Iceland. There are plenty of great photo opportunities at the site of inactive volcanoes. There are extensive lava fields and fascinating craters to explore.

Hot water

We can see the direct effect of being on a very hot rock when the water spouts out of the earth in the form of geysers. There are many colourful hot-spring areas to explore not too far from Reykjavik.
