Crater Red on Canvas
£46.50 – £55.00 inc. VAT
This was probably the closest I got to the Fimmvorudhals crater eruption. The volcano was sending out lots of red hot lava. I borrowed a quality long lens from a friend for a couple of shots including this one of the red hot lave spewing out of the crater cone. The sound was unbelievable and was like a couple of giants pounding on huge kettle drums deep below the surface of the Earth. The sharpness and colours are really stunning. This piece of canvas will compliment any space.
I began asking around on the Icelandic photography forums inquiring as to whether anyone else might want to utilize their jeeps to drive up to the eruption. I wasn’t alone with my thought, when we had organized our 3 huge jeeps loaded with probably the most regarded photographic artists in Iceland, the line of big jeep up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier was developing fast.
I was in good company as all of us had te same objectives, we needed to stand by until dusk to check whether there would be Northern Lights. Meanwhile the well of lava looked extraordinary against the sunset sky in late March and the red hot lava always looks better in the dark.
