The Buðir black church is located on the Snæfellsness Peninsula. The church is one of 3 black churches in Iceland. The church is black because the exterior wood is painted with pitch, just like the hull of a boat.

The Djúpalónssandur bay is on the Southern shore of the Snæfellsnes peninsular and quite close to Snæfellsjokull volcano which has added to the Icelandic landscape.
This tour always planned to start with a drive to East Iceland through Landmannalauagar. This was a bit of a gamble because we were guaranteed rain.
