Brown is the colour
This brown landscape scene captures the essence of the Vestrahorn location during the thawing season. The image observes the unique textures and patterns made by the melting ice and snow and the wetness of the basalt sand allows for a reasonable amount of reflection of the mountain – thus rendering the scene mostly brown. Not many brown images make it through my selection process, but this goes to show that it is not just the light and colours that make a great landscape, but the shapes and textures also.
My only regret is that I only took one photo of this scene. I wish I had played around with the composition, settings and exposure over 2 or 3 shots.
If you catch the glacier ice beach at the right time, you can photograph the incredible colours of a sunset or sunrise.
This night photograph, from Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon in Iceland, captured a comet disappearing into the North sky over Iceland.
For Iceland based photographers, photographing the Milky Way is generally something we do while we are waiting for the Northern Lights to appear.
