The Vatnjokull glacier in South East Iceland feeds the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon with mini ice bergs as it slowly melts away. The glacier lagoon then allows the smaller chunks of ice to escape into the North Atlantic ocean. These crystal ice chunks often get washed back onto the beaches which are covered with black, volcanic sand (like many of Iceland’s beaches. The contrast of the blue or crystal ice against the black sand become dazzling during sunsets and sunrises during the Icelandic Winters. This collection was built up over 13 years and over one thousand visits to Jokulsarlon. Many of these images are featured in my Magic Cloth Articles.
