What personal data we collect and why we collect it:

Newsletter Subscriptions

We use MailChimp to handle contact data of visitors who sign up to the IcelandAurora Newsletter. Contact details are kept solely for the use of sending Newsletters via email. Subscribers can unsubscribe at any time. Contact data can be erased on request.

We don’t sell or exchange subscriber data to any third parties. We don’t use subscriber contact data for any other purpose than that stated above.

Advertising

IcelandAurora.com uses various affiliate networks. We display ads that could take you to another website with different privacy settings. We might make a small commission if your click leads to a sale. IcelandAurora doesn’t keep any records of any visitors who click on adverts.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Comments are currently closed sitewide because the majority of posts are Static Files. Old comments are still visible.

How long we retain your data

We no longer keep records of people who have left a comment.

Registered users

IcelandAurora only allows registration from customers at this time.  Customers have the option to create a customer account at checkout. If a customer creates an account, they will be able to post product reviews. Customer account information is kept for customer service purposes and can be deleted on request. IP and technical information is collected on any attempts to login.

Contact Forms

Any information you include in a contact form will be emailed directly to a secure server in the USA. We use a trusted third party website and hosting provider SiteGround to facilitate secure email. A copy is sent to my personal email.  Any data that you submit is kept secure and only processed in a respectable way.

I don’t sell or share personal information about you with other people or non-affiliated companies. 

I will try to ensure that your personal data is not disclosed to regional/national institutions and authorities, unless required by law or other regulations.

I will do our best to protect your personal data, but cannot guarantee the security of your data. Any information you send is at your own risk. I am careful and use security features to try to prevent risk.

My website does contain affiliate links to third party websites & these websites have their own privacy policies. I don’t accept any responsibility or liability for these policies. Please check third party privacy policies before submitting personal data to other websites.

WooCommerce

If you purchase an item in the shop, we keep your contact information. This is mostly for customer service follow up.

We don’t directly handle or store your payment information. This is handled by Stripe, an Authorised Payment Processing service.
