Trevisan Art International

I received an email from Paola Trevisan in Italy inviting me to submit artwork for an International Art Exhibition in Bologna, November 2015. The International Art Exhibition is called “Little Treasures” and is hosted every year by TAI (Trevisan Art International). The invitation is to submit 4 small fine art photos measuring 20cm X 20cm. One of the submitted pieces will appear in their International Art catalogue and distributed to collectors around the world. There is a charge to cover publication costs and administration, but this will hopefully be my most cost effective show to date.

Here are my four fine art photographs (these are photos of the actual signed prints).

With such a “Little” size print it was important to present images with strong colours and strong compositions. My four photographs will be presented in a matrix with other artwork. I wanted to present images with a common theme so I went through my entire “Ice-Beach collection to find images that worked with the square crop.

Lake Ice Dawn 2012

This was a very productive January morning with a superb blood red sunrise. The ice-beach was unusually littered with flat slabs of lake ice.

Sun Salute 2012

This was a beautiful sunrise on the Ice-Beach in December. There was a lot of glacier ice and I struggled to find a composition. Luckily I found this neat arrangement just as the sun was rising. It seems like they lined up to salute the rising sun.

Limited to 50 pieces.

Blue Pointer 2012

This fine art photograph captures a transient arrangement of rare lake ice on the Ice-beach. The strong shapes required careful composition, but when this is achieved they add superb depth to the image and create pleasing ratios.

Limited to 100 pieces.

Snake Head 2012

Don’t be put off by the title, this photographic print is harmless! I liked the way the receding wave left a twisted trail behind the nugget of glacial ice. The trail is snakey and the ice nugget resembles a snake head. The square crop really helped me here because the beach was full of photographers who have now been cropped.

Limited to 100 pieces.

Artist Statement
Tony Prower | Iceland

I have always been fascinated by the power of visual art and how it touches the very core of our nature. I enjoy finding and exploring compositions that convey strong feelings of depth. My presented artworks are colour photographs preserving the ephemeral arrangements of ice on the black sand beach of Breiðamerkursandur, South East Iceland. Two of my photographs present glacier ice after it has been sculpted by the ocean and the other two photographs show rare lake ice after a particularly cold spell. All four photographs were taken with a long exposure at dawn when the colours of the morning sky interact best with the ice, sand and ocean. My “Magic Cloth Technique” was used to control the exposure ensuring the highest quality colours throughout.

The main requirement for using the Magic Cloth Technique is having a long exposure, so Northern Lights photography is an obvious choice.
