Godafoss waterfall is one of the most incredibly beautiful waterfalls in Iceland situated in the North Central district of Iceland around 40 minutes drive from Akureyri and around 20 minutes from Lake Mývatn. Godafoss is an enormous horseshoe cascade with a stretch of falling water around 30 meters. The old old saga character ‘Grettir the strong’ is said to have dove down into the caverns behind the waterfall. There is a hotel & campsite in the warmer months. The falls are conveniently on the campsite doorstep.
Godafoss is popular with Icelanders and is known as the waterfall of the Gods. This was my first chance to capture Godafoss around 3.a.m in the Icelandic Summer. This time is amazing for this area on the grounds that the rising sun will spin the first rays of daylight through the gorge and straight onto the cascade. This was a long exposure photograph and I love the delightful way the waterway has smoothed out such a lot of that it reflects the falls..
